Megan is a contemporary artist, stay-at-home mom, and freelance graphic designer, currently residing in Provo, Utah. She studied art at the California College of the Arts and Brigham Young University. Her work uses art historical references and symbolic objects to explore doctrine, history, and social issues within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her work is inspired by, among others, the Dutch masters, Jeff Wall, Sandy Skoglund, Bill Viola, Fred Wilson, and Damien Hirst. She has exhibited in New York City and across the state of Utah, most recently winning 3rd place in the Springville Museum of Art’s 97th Annual Spring Salon and a Purchase Award from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for this year's International Church Art Competition. The current series she has been working on through the Pandemic is reanimating classical scenes of Christ while using symbolic objects in place of the body of Christ to highlight current ecological and social issues. In this series Geilman is also using models that are pulled from the cultural landscape of artists and writers in Utah that further help to illuminate the thesis of each piece. She plans on finishing this series in the next year to be followed by a solo show. Along with her love of art history, Megan enjoys walkable downtowns, community events, a good restaurant, and enjoying each of these things with her husband and three children.

What About Utah Inspires You?The unique culture, the beautiful landscape, and all the creative and inspiring people that I've met. I grew up in a beautiful destination (San Diego) but I've always felt drawn to Utah (I chose it for my 5th grade state report). My husband and I attended BYU and 5 years ago moved back and bought our first house. I love being involved in helping to shape the artistic and cultural landscape of Provo and I hope to make Utah my lifelong home.
