Susan Klinker

Susan loves adventure in life and in art! She continually explores new mediums creating work inspired in the moment. Most recently, Susan has reached back to her work in natural and sustainable building to incorporate traditional natural plaster techniques as a flexible and diverse medium. Working with unfired clay, earth pigments, minerals, and other natural materials her relief works explore natural systems, forces in nature, landscape forms, and time. The abstract compositions evolve through reflective meditation and a dynamic process of shifting wet compositions before settling into a final configuration for each piece. The creative process for Susan, is a prayer, expressing deep appreciation of earth’s natural systems, beauty, and pure bounty, leaving her with a sense of hope and inspiration toward a sustainable future.

Mature Amateur

From my first days in Utah I recognized that what I love about Utah is "space & light". I love how the sculptural landscapes look so different depending on how the light is cast. I especially love the end of the day as the shadows get long. The majestic scenes make my my heat sing.
