Sue Martin is a late-blooming artist who set aside her art aspirations for 25 years while working full time and raising a family. Finally, after moving to Utah in 1995, she began taking classes and workshops. After her mother died in 2007, she realized her own mortality and decided to get serious about her art. She enrolled at the University of Utah and earned a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in 2013. Sue works in oils, acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media. She shares a studio in downtown Salt Lake City and occasionally teaches workshops.

What About Utah Inspires You?I'm inspired by Utah's unique natural beauty. I love traveling the state and painting everything from the Great Salt Lake to red rock in the national parks. Closer to home, I'm inspired by the variety of plants at Red Butte Garden and by scenes along the Jordan River Parkway. The sophistication of the Utah art scene also inspires me. I find I can paint both realistically and abstractly and find an appreciative audience.
