Bessann Swanson

In mid life Bessann Swanson tiptoed into watercolor painting in response to a lifelong dream. Due to national and international watercolor workshops, weekly classes and the support of local artists and the Utah Watercolor Society community her painting has blossomed. She teaches sketching through UWS and Osher Lifelong Learning through the Univ of Utah.

Shows and awards include Honorable Mentions in both Art in the Parks (nationally) and Paint America. In northern Utah, solo exhibits of my work have been sponsored by Ogden Mueums and Galleries, Red Butte Gardens, Utah Art and Environment Collaborative, Jewish Community Center and Eccles Community Art Center . In addition, her paintings have been featured in environmental publications here in Utah.

Every part of Utah's landscape inspires me, from snow capped peaks to red rock cliffs. The presence of natural places balances the cultural demands and corporate striving that runs our lives. Utah is fortunate to have undeveloped places either by design or by practicality. These are antidotes for all that weighs us down.
