lisa shine

A native of Maryland, Lisa grew up spending weekends with her family at the amazing cultural institutions in and around Washington, DC that helped spark and foster an interest in art. From the time she could hold a pencil in her hand she was drawing on all available surfaces. Though having earned a degree in Corporate Finance and working in the banking industry, art was always part of her world. Throughout a banking career, Lisa studied art on the side at UCLA, Otis College of Art & Design and other art centers. Lisa participated in numerous Group shows and juried competitions such as the San Diego Institute of Art- Museum of the Living Artist in Balboa Park. Her still life paintings have won awards at juried competitions including the National Orange Show in San Bernardino California. ?Oil painting was her focus, but she has become an enthusiast of, and has shifted more time to, Encaustic painting. Lisa still enjoys oil, water color, pencil, collage and other mediums. ?Saturated color, shadow, light and line inform and impact her work. Her goal is to create beautiful and interesting images that encourage contemplative and appreciative responses from the viewer. Always striving to expand artistic knowledge, she continues to learn through travel, workshops and from the wealth of amazing and talented artists in Utah, around the US and abroad. Lisa, her husband and two sons moved to Park City in 2012. At Studio Create in Park City, Lisa shares studio space with several talented artists.

What About Utah Inspires You?

Utah has a diverse environment that provides endless opportunities to be inspired. Nature and the ever changing stunning, mountain environment in which i live inspires me creatively. For me, the simplicity of hiking a beautiful trail in any season in Utah brings a sense of peace, beauty and connection.
